APPEARANCE: Moderately tall, naturally lean, very elegant and handsome. He normally has a smirking or a brooding look on his face in public, as though he knows something that you have overlooked and he is mulling it over or rather pleased about it.
HABITS: Rabastan is still a little nervous as a result of his time in Azkaban. He paces when he’s upset, and he’s even more cautious than he normally would be about things. The time on the run hasn’t been good for him either, making him have a nervous look in his eyes sometimes. He used to think himself invincible, now he is more skittish.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS:
PERSONALITY: Rabastan is a self made man. As the younger son, he missed out on most of the Lestrange fortune, and he has devoted his entire life to making the most of himself. Before he was sent to prison for the first time, he had made nearly as much wealth for himself as his older brother. He is very independant, very much the alpha male. A study in contradictions, Rabastan is a strong, bold man on the outside, full of elegance and quiet strenght, but to the precious two or three that he is himself with, he is just as vulnerable, just as human, as everyone else. He can be very gentle, tender calming someone he loves and kill someone that hurt them in cold blood five minutes later.

History
CHILDHOOD HOME: France
HISTORY: Rabastan Dante Lestrange was born on October 4, 1955 to Frederick and Cecelia Lestrange in southern France. His father’s family was from there and so he spent the first five years of his life there, growing quite fluent in French as well as English. Eventually though, his mother started to grow homesick for her native England so they returned. Because of his upbringing Bastan is fluent in both French as well as English, and he will always hold a fond spot for the chateau that he called home in France. From his earliest years there was an intense competitive nature between the Lestrange males. It was this rivalry that led him to study longer, work harder, try to do anything to make the most of himself.

When he got to Hogwarts he was relieved to find himself in Slytherin. It was the house that he had been hoping for, the only acceptable house, as well as the house that he knew would allow him to make the most of himself. He looked to those older than him in his house as mentors, seeking to follow their example when he could and he tried his hardest to provide a good example for those younger than himself. He began to look at those in his house as a family of sorts, and was known to get into trouble defending those in his house even when he knew they were in the wrong. Family, in his opinion, always had to have a strong façade to everyone else. He was very protective of those close to him.

His opinion on other houses was mixed. He related to the rivalry between Slytherin and Gryffindor because of the rivalry he and his brother had. He devoted himself to making sure that Slytherin bested Gryffindor at every turn. He was unsure of what to think of the other two houses. Hufflepuffs were next to squibs in his book. They're pitiful in a rather sad way, but he avoided them in an intense fear that he will form a friendship with one and thus be forced to protect him/her. Ravenclaws were alright, depending from person to person, but he was generally wary of them because he wants to keep his friends in
Slytherin.

He graduated from Hogwarts in 1974 and immediately joined Voldemort. Though his father turned over his horse stables to Rabastan’s care, he didn’t have a regular job. He was young, and, in many ways, naïve to exactly what he was getting himself into. Still, his resolve didn’t waver. He saw it as his chance to gain both power and privilege for himself, as well as his duty. He might not have the beliefs that mirrored Voldemort’s, but his family did, his friends did, and he couldn’t sit idly by and watch them be slaughtered, he had to be in the middle of things.

He went to prison for the first time because he recognized something within Bellatrix and Roddy that he knew would lead them to trouble. He went with them that night to the Longbottom’s because he knew they would be captured. He thought he was invincible then, he thought he could prevent it. Of course he was wrong, and his first stay in prison taught him that no one is invincible. When he the first time escaped, he knew that he could easily go back, but again he thought that somehow he could influence Bella and Roddy, could make them pull back at the last possible moment. He found himself in Azkaban once more.

When he escaped the second time, he wasn’t sure what he wanted. Part of him wanted to be away from the madness, and part of him still believed in standing strong and fighting for what he had always fought for. He is a stubborn man and giving up is hard for him. He was at the final battle, and seeing Voldemort killed was very surreal. He knew from that moment on that he had lost. His side had lost, and he would be a fugitive for the rest of his life, or he would be caught. There was no way for him to win.

After the war ended Rabastan found himself on the run. He has been traveling all over the country, rarely staying more than a few weeks in a place at a time. He has been doing his best to lie low, so to speak, but he has studied his entire life how to stand out and be exceptional, not how to blend into a crowd. He’s not used to a daily nine to five job. This is all quite new to him and he’s been making quite a few mistakes, and has nearly been caught several times. In addition to that, he’s trying to make a balance between keeping up with his family and friends and keeping to himself to avoid discovery.
